Microsoft Outlook Express - Undeliverable email addresses:
Symptom:
You cannot send to certain email addresses or you
cannot receive email from certain addresses. You have checked to make sure the addresses
are correct.
Possible Cause 1:
A message rule may have been setup to intercept any
message from that address.
Solution:
Open Outlook Express
Goto Tools Menu/Message Rules/Mail
If you get a box titled "New Mail Rule"
click Cancel
You should now see the Message Rules dialog. If you
see any rules in the list, click once on each one and you will see the rule at the bottom
of the dialog box.
Delete any rules that appear to involve the
address(es) in question by clicking the Remove Button.
Click OK.
Possible Cause 2:
The address in question is on the Blocked Sender List.
Solution:
Open Outlook Express
Goto Tools Menu/Message Rules/Blocked Senders
List
If the list contains an entry for the email address
in question, remove it with the Remove button.
Click OK.
Possible Cause 3:
Once in a while an email server will stop communicating
with a particular other email server. For instance there were a few weeks when anyone with
an address that ended in "@i2k.com" could not send to or receive mail from
anyone with an address that ended in "@amaesd.k12.mi.us".
Solution:
The only way to solve this is to inform both Internet
Service Providers and let their technicians figure it out.
